Inauguration of the Second Plant and Family Celebration

Zerhusen Kartonagen GmbH has reached another milestone in its 37-year history: on Friday, the new plant in the Niedersachsenpark industrial and commercial district was officially opened. Numerous customers, suppliers, business partners, political representatives as well as friends and employees of the Zerhusen family attended the event.

Roland Zerhusen, CEO, warmly welcomed the guests, including Matthias Wunderling-Weilbier, State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry for Federal and European Affairs and Regional Development. Daughter Leonie Zerhusen hosted the official ceremony. Her brother Robert Zerhusen, Technical CEO and head of the new plant and corrugated board production in Damme, provided information about the construction phase of the second plant and gave an outlook on possible expansion strategies. His sister Linda Stärk, CEO, then gave an insight into current projects in Damme, such as the construction of the office building on Industriestrasse and the automatic paper storage. She also announced further investments in the future of the company at the Damme site, such as the expansion of the second corrugator.

The Instrumental music group Neuenkirchen-Vörden provided the musical backdrop with the support of surprise guest Ference Mausz from the German Brass Quintet. Pastor Heiner Zumdohme blessed the new plant during a service at the end of the ceremony.

On Saturday, the Zerhusen family invited all employees and their families to a family day. Over 1200 people came to the site of the new plant in Rieste on the festive day. This enabled many employees to visit and tour the new plant for the first time. Various market stalls with delicious food and a café in the press hall provided refreshments.

The younger guests enjoyed numerous attractions such as a fun train, bouncy castles, Segway rides and bungee jumping. The event offered entertainment for the whole family.

With the commissioning of the second plant, Zerhusen Kartonagen is investing further in the future. Construction began in July 2022 and cost around 30 million euros. The plant in Rieste currently employs 65 people and has been operating in three shifts since April. Further expansions are already planned in order to increase production capacity and relieve the main plant in Damme.
